Location: 41 Cherokee Mine Rd, Franklin, NC 28734 Cost: $30 per person (Non-refundable, rain or shine)
Join us for an exciting, hands-on prospecting adventure at the Cherokee Ruby & Sapphire Mine! Located in the heart of the beautiful Cowee Valley in the Smoky Mountains, this location is famous for being Macon County’s only 100% unsalted gem mine.
Unlike "salted" tourism spots where gems are artificially added to bags of dirt, everything you find here is completely native to the local earth. This means every discovery you make is a genuine piece of North Carolina’s rich geological history!

This is a true, authentic rockhound experience where you get to roll up your sleeves and dig into native dirt. The field trip is entirely family-friendly, making it a perfect outing for rockhounds of all ages and skill levels.
