About the event

August Monthly Meeting: Exploring Moldavite with Linda Connelly

Join the Henderson County Gem & Mineral Society on Monday, August 17th at 6:30 PM for a fascinating presentation on one of the world's most intriguing gemstones—Moldavite.

Local Moldavite enthusiast and collector Linda Connelly will share her knowledge of this rare green tektite, formed approximately 15 million years ago when a meteorite impact in what is now Germany sent molten material into the atmosphere, which later cooled and fell across parts of the Czech Republic. Moldavite is prized by collectors for its unique origin, distinctive appearance, and fascinating geological story.

Linda's presentation will explore the history, formation, identification, and collecting of Moldavite, as well as why this extraordinary impact glass has captured the imagination of mineral enthusiasts around the world. Whether you're an experienced collector or simply curious about this remarkable material, this program promises to be both educational and engaging.

Visitors are welcome…
